Would it be wrong to hammer a wood screw into a wall stud? I have tried drilling it in and it has only gone so far, then stopped. I first drilled a pilot hole, but that seemed to do no justice obviously. I have now stripped the head of the screws and contemplating on hammering it in, which seems to be my only option now. What should I do? I can not remove the screw because it is stripped so bad. Will hammering split the studs, I am at least "1 inch into the stud right now.
