I am so very confused Two and a half months ago I applied for Social Security Disablity two weeks ago I received a letter in the mail stating "Please bring someone in the office who is willing to be your representative payee, we have deemed it medically necessasary that someone manage your funds" So I brought my mom into the office and she agreed to be my payee. The lady at SS said we were approved or else we wouldn't have received that letter. They gave me mom this ten letter print out. On the print out I noticed something ...it said this :: " I need to have a payee for my SUPLEMENTAL SECURITY INCOME" My question is WHY does this form say SUPPLEMNTAL SECURITY INCOME? I don't get it? When I first applied for Social Security Disablity I was sent a letter saying that I was denied Suplemental Security Income. I have my Social secuirty statement and it clearly states that I have enough credits that if I were to become disabled I'd be eligable for disablity. Do you think that the paper work that my mom recieved is set at a default so it is just saying Suplemental by default? Or do you think they are giving me SSI instead of SSDI? Why would they give me SSI instead of SSDI? On my SS report it says if i were to become disabled I have enough credits and my monly check would be $1177.00. Whats going on here? What is the difference between SSI and SSDI ? HELP!!!
