Two days after surprising everyone at the Video Music Awards by taking a live snake as his plus one, Justin Bieber gave a motorist the shock of his life after a car crash. Unfortunately, footage of the crash hasn’t made its way onto the internet, but I can only imagine the look on the driver’s face after discovering the teenager he hit was international pop star Justin Bieber.
The accident was confirmed by a spokesman for the police who released a statement to Access Hollywood.
xalkori
The drug crizotinib (Xalkori), manufactured by Pfizer and approved last week by the Food and Drug Administration, is intended for a small number of patients.
The twice-daily capsules are meant for patients with non-small cell lung cancer who have a unique gene known as an abnormal anaplastic lymphoma kinase(ALK). An ALK gene causes cancer growth and development.
Lung Cancer Drug Blocks Proteins
The FDA also approved a diagnostic test by Abbott Laboratories that screens for the gene. About 187,000, or 85 percent of the 220,000 lung cancer cases diagnosed yearly, are non-small cell lung cancer. "For many patients, this drug has been a lifesaver," Massachusetts General's Shaw told ABC News. Dr. Roy S. Herbst, chief of medical oncology at Yale Cancer Center, said that crizotinib's FDA approval was a "pivotal milestone" in lung cancer treatment.
Xalkori is used to treat certain patients with late-stage -- advanced or metastatic -- lung cancer along with an abnormal anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) gene, which causes cancer development and growth.
“Targeted therapies such as Xalkori are important options for treating patients with this disease and may ultimately result in fewer side effects.”
Patients with this form of lung cancer are typically non-smokers.
Xalkori is approved for the roughly four percent of patients with non-small cell lung cancer who have the gene.
Pfizer plans to charge $115,200 a year per patient for Xalkori.
“The approval of Xalkori with a specific test allows the selection of patients who are most likely to respond to the drug,” said Dr. Richard Padzur, MD, who heads the oncology drug unit of FDA's Center for Drug Evaluation and Research. In clinical trials, half or more patients benefited from the drug, and the one-year survival rate was 77%.
If testing were to become universal, that could mean around $30,000 spent on tests for every patient that gets the drug, Herper estimated.
Pfizer engaged Abbott on crizotinib in 2009 based on Abbott's expertise in molecular diagnostics and global reach.

Naiyana patel : The mom who killed her daughters with hatchet and claimed that ghost that murdered them.
A 33-year-old mother accused of killing her two young daughters with a hatchet and then trying to kill herself told investigators that a ghost killed her children, according to a warrant.
On Saturday, Patel's husband, Lalji Patel, returned home from work to find his daughters, 7-year-old Jiya and 4-year-old Piya, dead and their mother seriously injured.
Police said Naiyana Patel struck herself in the head repeatedly with the hatchet after she killed the girls.
Relatives said the children's funeral is planned Thursday.
Community in mourning
Shelly Webb, pastor of Oakley United Methodist Church, is organizing the community event at Oakley Elementary.
Naiyana Gauri Patel, 33, was recovering from self-inflicted injuries at Mission Hospital. She repeatedly hit herself in the head with the hatchet used to kill 8-year-old Jiya and 4-year-old Piya Patel.
At the hospital, Naiyana Patel told police Saturday that “the ghost killed her children,” according to an officer’s statement in a search warrant for the Patel home. Buncombe County Schools on Monday had a crisis response team at Oakley Elementary, where Jiya Patel was a second-grader.
Laji Patel, Naiyana's husband, returned to the family's East Ashville home at approximately 10:00 am Saturday to discover his injured wife and daughters. Sitting in her hospital bed, Naiyana Patel, 33, told police Saturday that “the ghost killed her children,” according to an officer's statement obtained by the Asheville Citizen-Times. Naiyana Patel is charged with two counts of first degree murder.

Judy Greer
New reports say actress Judy Greer will play Kutcher's ex-wife on on the upcoming season of the CBS hit.
The show will be somewhat familiar territory for Greer, 36, who played a minor character named Myra (who naturally slept with the womanizing Charlie) in two Men episodes back in 2007. Greer is a primetime comedy veteran. The show has tapped Judy Greer to play Ashton Kutcher's soon-to-be-ex wife.
Bridget's the ex of Walden Schmidt, played by Ashton Kutcher, a broken-hearted internet billionaire who purchases the home once occupied by now-dead Charlie Harper. Of course, Alan (Jon Cryer) and Jake (Angus T. Jones) remain residents.
New characters are being brought in (Ashton Kutcher's Walden Schmidt and Judy Greer's Bridget), and old characters are being revisited, such as Courtney Thorne-Smith's Lyndsey, ex-girlfriend to Alan (Jon Cryer).
Lyndsey was introduced as the perfect woman, who preferred Alan to Charlie. The much-anticipated Ashton Kutcher character, Walden Schmidt, on the upcoming season of the sitcom is advertized as a broken-hearted internet billionaire. Greer will assume the role of Schmidt's ex-wife, Bridget. Greer's former character on Two and a Half Men was Myra, sister-in-law to Alan's ex-wife Judith and girlfriend to Charlie.

Tiki Barber engaged traci lynn johnson
Tiki Barber, the former New York Giants running back, proposed to his girlfriend, Traci Lynn Johnson, over the weekend.
"They got engaged," Mark Lepselter, Barber’s agent and close friend, of Tiki and Traci, told the New York Post. While working for NBC as a football analyst, Barber met Johnson. Barber’s agent said that financial interests will not play a significant role in Barber’s destination. Ex-Giants star Tiki Barber, who left his 8-months pregnant wife in 2009 amidst rumors of an affair with a young NBC intern, proposed to the alleged mistress, 24-year old Traci Johnson over the weekend.
Traci changed her Facebook relationship status to "engaged to Atiim Barber" Saturday afternoon.
Disgraced American football star Tiki Barber has proposed to his girlfriend of two years, following sensational claims he left his then-pregnant wife for her.
Johnson is the former NBC intern for whom Barber, 36, reportedly left his wife Ginny Cha in 2009 when she was pregnant with their twins.

sam bradford pictures
This year, Sam Bradford is a solid No. 2 quarterback in standard fantasy leagues. (One exception is Matt Ryan, whose sophomore stats were a mere 7 passing yards per game below his rookie campaign.)
Notable QB second-season stat differentials
Josh Freeman: +30 pass YPG, +3.6 TD/INT ratio
Michael Vick: +98 pass YPG, +1.3 TD/INT ratio
Peyton Manning: +24 pass YPG, +0.8 TD/INT ratio
Eli Manning: +119 pass YPG, +0.7 TD/INT ratio
Mark Sanchez: +43 pass YPG, +0.7 TD/INT ratio
Joe Flacco: +40 pass YPG, +0.6 TD/INT ratio
Donovan McNabb: +131 pass YPG, +0.5 TD/INT ratio
Matt Ryan: -7 pass YPG, +0.1 TD/INT ratio
Bradford was the Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2010, posting strong numbers: 60 percent completion rate, 220 passing yards per game, 18 touchdowns and 15 interceptions (1.2 TD/INT ratio). Sims-Walker posted a combined 1,431 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns in 2009 and 2010, while Avery has 100 grabs for 1,263 yards and eight touchdowns in his two NFL seasons. Rookie receivers Austin Pettis and Greg Salas, as well as rookie tight end Lance Kendricks, are also expected to contribute. Bradford also had some interesting splits as a rookie, though some were a tad alarming. The conservative play-calling also played a role here, as Bradford didn't have to worry about throwing many long passes through the cold air.
Bradford has looked decent this preseason in McDaniels' new system, completing 24 of 43 passes (55.8 percent) for 278 yards, 4 TDs and 2 INTs. That said, his yards per attempt is a mere 6.5 despite having an 83-yard touchdown pass.
ESPN.com projects Bradford for 3,899 passing yards, 21 TDs and 14 INTs. I see St. Louis having to play catch-up in a lot of those matchups with the NFL beasts, allowing Bradford to average close to 40 pass attempts per game, which would be a significant jump from 36.9 last season.
Many of the above reasons will prevent Bradford from producing elite fantasy quarterback numbers this year. Bradford lit up the Seahawks at home for 289 yards and two touchdowns in last year's 20-3 victory.
Bradford will spend 2011 building a rapport with his young supporting cast, which will be orchestrated by youthful offensive coordinator McDaniels. If all goes as planned, Bradford should be ranked in the 10-12 range among fantasy quarterbacks entering 2012.
Bradford came into the league in 2010 and finished as the Offensive Rookie of the Year. Why You Should Draft Sam Bradford
Bradford offers both of those. In 2010, Bradford was surprisingly safe with the football for a rookie. Why You Should Not Draft Sam Bradford
Out of his 16 regular season matchups, Bradford recorded one touchdown or less in nine games. Why You Should Draft Matthew Stafford
A healthy Stafford could mean Top 8 quarterback status in 2011.
Why You Should Not Draft Matthew Stafford
Stafford was knocked out of the first game in his sophomore campaign, only to come back and play two more games to re-aggravate his shoulder, ultimately knocking him out of the season. Both quarterbacks will throw their fair share of interceptions, although Bradford may be the safer pick in that department, and if you’re looking to take a guy who’s more likely to stay on the field, Bradford is your pick. Bradford’s upside is also there, but going into his second season, he’s still on a little bit of a learning curve, and I do expect more mistakes out of a young quarterback, although Bradford has already started more games than Stafford.
Overall as a risk-taker myself, I’m going with Stafford’s upside compared to Bradford.

hurricane katia pictures
Tropical Storm Katia may grow into a hurricane in the next two days as it moves west-northwest through the mid-Atlantic Ocean, according to the National Hurricane Center in Miami.
Named Storms
Katia is the 11th named storm of this Atlantic hurricane season, which runs from June 1 to Nov. 30. The average hurricane season usually produces that total, according to the hurricane center.
The storm had maximum sustained winds late Tuesday morning near 45 miles per hour, and the U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami said gradual strengthening is forecast. Katia is expected to be near hurricane strength by late Wednesday or early Thursday, as the second official hurricane of the 2011 Atlantic season.
Forecasts show Katia could become a major hurricane by the weekend.
On Tuesday, Katia was centered about 630 miles west-southwest of the southernmost Cape Verde Islands, moving west-northwest at 18 miles per hour. Katia's storm name replaces Katrina in the rotating storm roster because of the catastrophic damage from the 2005 storm which ravaged the U.S. Gulf Coast, causing catastrophic flooding in New Orleans and virtually destroying the Mississippi coastline.

Sebastian Bach's house destroyed by flood & Hurricane Irene
It’s not that Sebastian Bach lost that Garden State loving feeling; it’s that Hurricane Irene wasn’t such a big fan of Bach. New Jersey became the adopted home of the Canadian born Skid Row singer, whose real name is Sebastian Philip Bierk, having made his home there for the last 21 years.
Gone are Bach’s collection of KISS memorabilia, including gargoyles from the 1979 tour and a KISS pinball machine. Skid Row fans will never get that boxed set they’ve been longing for, as Bach also lost master tapes, video & audio, concerts, master tapes from his own band.
“Hello, Los Angeles. Hello, New Life. One of the people who will have to put the pieces back together is Skid Row singer Sebastian Bach, whose New Jersey home was destroyed by flooding from the hurricane. "I am numb, in shock, & devastated to report that my home of 21 years, my house featured on 'MTV Cribs,' has been destroyed, condemned, & deemed uninhabitable due to the extreme flooding courtesy of Hurricane Irene," Bach wrote. Now Irene has overflowed the reservoir adjacent to my house. Among the "irreplaceable" items lost: KISS Gargoyles from the 1979 tour, a KISS pinball machine, Skid Row master tapes, master tapes from Oh Say Can You Scream and "boxes & boxes" of original Skid Row memorabilia, from the band's first tour to their most recent, which Bach said no one else had.
"Hello, Los Angeles. Hello, New Life. Rock star Sebastian Bach spent Monday evening trying to salvage his most prized possessions after flooding caused by Hurricane Irene rendered his New Jersey home uninhabitable.
Bach, who rose to fame in the 1980s with the hair metal and rock group Skid Row and now performs as a solo artist, was on tour at the time. "I've lost so much KISS stuff and Skid Row stuff. The house is condemned."
It just breaks my heart," he said, adding: "There was never a bigger Skid Row fan than Sebastian Bach."
Skid Row wrote its songs in Bach's house. Bach, known for his long, blond hair and strong, raspy vocals, joined Skid Row in the late 1980s. Bach left Skid Row in 1996 and has since then concentrated on his solo music and acting career.

Michael Vick's $100 million contract
Eagles Coach Andy Reid and Quarterback Michael Vick met the media Tuesday to announce the new $100 million deal reached by the team and the new face of the franchise.
While Michael Vick affixed a signature to his epic six-year $100 million contract extension Tuesday, the reaction from veteran Eagles teammates was nearly as compelling.
There is no gray area with Vick.
Speaking at a Tuesday press conference about his new, lucrative contract, Michael Vick said he was honoured to play for the Philadelphia Eagles and thanked numerous people who helped guide his career resurgence.
Vick also thanked Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie, Eagles general manager Howie Roseman and NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.
Sitting next to Vick at the press conference, Reid said the Eagles were "very excited" to have their starting quarterback signed.
Vick, a four-time Pro Bowl selection, signed a one-year franchise tender contract in March, prior to the NFL lockout. Vick, 31, spent 19 months in prison after pleading guilty to federal charges stemming from a dogfighting operation. Kolb was traded to Arizona before camp and the Eagles signed former Titans QB Vince Young this summer as the backup for Vick.
As you are now no doubt aware, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick recently signed a six-year, $100 million contract extension. This is, of course, the second time that a team has valued Vick at at least $100 million; in 2004, Vick signed a 10-year, $130 million contract with the Atlanta Falcons. Vick's new contract with the Eagles guarantees him only $40 million, with the remainder of the money coming from incentives and playing benchmarks. Vick played only two years of his contract with the Falcons and ended up in bankruptcy court (a significant portion of his current contract will go towards paying off his debts). Last year with the Eagles, Vick played 11 games. ELEVEN! What do you think of Vick's new deal?

Vick's new contract with the Eagles guarantees him only $40 million, with the remainder of the money coming from incentives and playing benchmarks. Vick played only two years of his contract with the Falcons and ended up in bankruptcy court (a significant portion of his current contract will go towards paying off his debts). Last year with the Eagles, Vick played 11 games. ELEVEN! What do you think of Vick's new deal?
