Bodies of 2 missing boaters found in Wisconsin river crash

(Reuters) - The bodies of two men missing since a fatal boating accident on a Wisconsin river last week were found on Sunday, authorities said.

The body of 25-year-old Luke R. Pohl was recovered from the Chippewa River at about 8 a.m., after a kayaker spotted it in the water downstream from crash site, a spokesman for the Chippewa County Sheriff's Office said.

About two hours later the body of 28-year-old Matthew J. Simonson was also found in the vicinity of the accident.

Pohl, from Elk River, Minnesota, and Simonson, from Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, had been missing since Friday night, when Prince Craft boat containing six members of a wedding party collided with a speedboat on the river near Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

Two people, including the boat's 50-year-old driver, Mark Michels, and Matthew Overhulser, 28, were pronounced dead after the crash, with Pohl and Simonson missing.

Two other people were hospitalized and one was treated at the hospital but released.

The passengers on the Prince Craft boat were all part of a wedding party for a ceremony that was to take place on Saturday, authorities have said.

The crash remains under investigation.
