I recently moved out of my apartment and the carpet was damaged. It was extremely cheap carpet and was coming up without any effort on my part. My landlord is what they call a 'slumlord' and does everything cheaply. He called and said the damage in my apartment was $600 and the security deposit was $190. In the lease, it states the $190 security deposit is for "any and all damages". He is now threatening to take me to court for the full $600. He said in order to avoid going to court he wants me to pay him another week of rent, although I was not living there plus $95. I do not want to go to court and maybe they will dismiss it if they see what the lease states?
