A registration blitz for the 9th Annual Prostate Cancer Walk will be held in North St. Louis County at the
Walgreens located at 9285 Halls Ferry Road in Jennings, Mo., Saturday, June 18, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The prostate cancer walk is a self-funded initiative that generates continuous funding for research, education, and testing for men in underserved communities. The Annual Prostate Cancer Walk takes place on Saturday, Aug. 20, beginning at 9 a.m. at Kiener Plaza. The walk follows a two-mile route, ending at the America’s Center where participants will receive free admission to the Missouri Black Expo. There, participants can interact with prostate cancer survivors, , attend educational workshops and receive more information about prostate cancer. Males who are 35 years old or over can take advantage of a free Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) test administered by Siteman Cancer Center (all test are confidential and follow HIPAA guidelines).
According to the CDC, aside from non-melanoma skin cancer, prostate cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer death among men of all races.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says that prostate cancer in the U.S.
Is the most common form of cancer in men, and is more common in African-
American and Hispanic men, compared to white men.
