They were inspired by Terry Fox and starting Friday morning, six members of a Lavington family will begin an epic marathon of their own.
The children in the Preston-Gosselin family are running from Vernon to Vancouver to raise money for cancer research.
The idea was brainstormed by Michael Preston, 9.
Michael was learning about Terry Fox in school when he asked his mom how to do a run similar to Fox’s.
Mother Natalie Preston made the kids run for four days a week for a month to make sure they were serious and committed to the idea.
When they proved their determination, the kids wrote to the Canadian Cancer Society, which quickly threw their support behind the marathon.
The goal is to raise $20,000 for cancer research.
The kids will be running more than 600 km via the Hope Princeton Highway.
