When I take my Finale 2006 scores into Finale 2010 and generate linked parts, I find that there is a whole bunch of dynamics markings (ff, f, mp, etc.) in the parts that point to quarter rests, half rests, whole rests or even multimeasure rests. Of course it makes no sense to play a quarter rest fortissimo. I used to use staff lists rather than click-drag to assign dynamics to several staves at once. I worry that if I just delete the phantom dynamics in the part where they're not needed they'll also get deleted in the parts that do need them. I tried, in full score view, deleting ALL dynamics and then putting them back in as Finale 2010 dynamics. That didn't get rid of the phantom dynamics. So what I've been doing is just unchecking "Show" in the various parts. There's got to be a better way.
