Gene Simmons and his girlfriend of 28 years, Shannon Tweed, continue to make the the media round to promote their reality series. However, rumors surrounding the two state that the longtime couple may be on the rocks. Last week, the two appeared on NBC’s Today Show to promote Gene Simmons: Family Jewels, where Tweed repeatedly gave verbal insults to her boyfriend. Days later, the two appeared on the Joy Behar show on HLN, where the two continued to play the fact that the two are having problems.
At one point during Behar’s show, Tweed gets so upset with the KISS front man that she leaves the set, leaving Simmons to talk to Behar. According to sources close to Tweed, she is apparently tired of the way he flirts and talks with other women. A source notes that “Tweed is ready to start a new chapter in her life… without Gene”.
On the other hand, others following the two state that the two are simply putting on a show during their media rounds in order to generate additional eyeballs for their reality series. A source noted that it is a “hook” for their series. By the viewer seeing the two having issues on-set as they make the media rounds, it potentially brings in an additional audience for their series. For their part, it seems to be working. The premiere of Family Jewels drew 1.4 million viewers during its season 7 premiere last Sunday, almost identical to the numbers it received during its premiere last year.
