The 22-year-old Irishman ran away from the field to become the youngest Open champion in 88 years, then headed back to the hotel bar late Sunday with his father, Gerry, and entourage for a celebratory nightcap. Despite the midnight hour a gracious McIlroy signed autographs and posed for a portrait of champions with the Wells boys; Andrew, a junior at Madison High School, won the state Group 1 & 2 combinedindividual golf title in May, while he and his Dodger teammates captured the team sectional crown. His younger brother, David, plans to play as a freshman at MHS next year.
