Who cares whether Michelle Bachmann prefers Johnny Cash or Elvis Presley? If any of the candidates had done that – they would have won the whole debate, on the basis of courage alone. John King of CNN had started the debate by asking the candidates not to waste time answering questions that weren’t asked or by going over the time limit. So why waste precious moments playingTrivial Pursuit™? King himself continually interrupted the candidates, made noises in the background while they were answering and kept whining about the candidates going over their allotted time. This one-trick pony wears thin. Governor Tim Pawlenty was asked about Federal Right-to-Work legislation and took the bait: “I support strongly right-to-work legislation.” Gingrich, on the other hand, proposes reducing the size and reach of government by defunding the National Labor Relations Board.Ron Paul believes that government should get out of the marriage business altogether.
Trends forecaster and social commentator Gerald Celente has slammed this week’s GOP presidential debate hosted by CNN as a “disgraceful” indication of the decline of America. Celente told RT in a riveting interview yesterday. Celente added.
— Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) at the GOP debate, June 13, 2011“Obamacare takes $500 billion out of Medicare and funds Obamacare.”The savings actually are wrung from health-care providers, not Medicare beneficiaries. The health care bill, as mentioned, actually puts Medicare on a more solid financial footing. The Republicans had a chance to repeal those cuts when they voted to repeal the health care law, but instead they adopted “current law” (ie, the Medicare cuts) in their budget. The Medicare savings in the health care law are aimed at providers, not seniors; meanwhile seniors stand to benefit from aspects of the health care law that Republicans want to repeal.
