Rise of the Planet of the Apes

Apes climbed to the top rung of the weekend box office.
Featuring James Franco, Freida Pinto and Andy Serkis, “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” recounts how lower primates began evolving to take over Earth from humans.
Ryan Reynolds and Jason Bateman’s comedy “The Change-Up” opened a weak No. 4 with $13.5 million. The movie centers on two old friends — a successful but frazzled attorney and family man, and a womanizing slacker — who magically trade bodies.
With $12.2 million domestically and $61.8 million overseas, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2” raised its worldwide total to $1.13 billion.

The modern-day remake of the classic 1968 film “Planet of the Apes” starring Charlton Heston was expected to draw a sizeable crowd this weekend and predicted to earn $30 million. Rodman creates and raises a genetically engineered chimpanzee named Caesar (Andy Serkis).
Paste Magazine’s Jonathan Hickman gave a positive review of the film, writing: “‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes’ is one of the most literate science fiction action films in some time. The film is directed by Rupert Wyatt and stars James Franco (“Spider-Man”), Freida Pinto (“Slumdog Millionaire”), Andy Serkis (“The Lord of the Rings”), and John Lithgow (TV series “3rd Rock from the Sun”). The film cost $93 million to make.

Indian actor Freida Pinto got her big break in director Danny Boyle’s 2008 Oscar-winning hit, Slumdog Millionaire. Now, she is hitting the silver screens in her first big-budget, effects-driven Hollywood film titled Rise of the Planet of the Apes. In her upcoming film, Pinto plays an expert in primate behaviour opposite James Franco and a bunch of genetically enhanced apes who prepare to take over the world. It’s been over 40 years since the first Apes film with Charlton Heston came out. Where does this film fit into the story?
